Cristiano Ronaldo was born in a working-class neighborhood on the Portuguese island of Madeira. His dad, a gardener, and his mother, a cook, raised their four children in a bungalow so tiny they kept the washing machine on the roof. Though some say Ronaldo was a magnetic actor in school, it was his football skills that captivated the island, forcing its most preeminent teams to stand up and take notice of the young virtuoso. After starring with local clubs Andorinha and Nacional, Ronaldo earned a three-day trial with Lisbon's Sporting -- the club he followed growing up -- and signed with them in 2001. To this day, he remains the only player in their history to be promoted through four consecutive academy levels until finally landing on the first team, all in one season. Ronaldo would go on to score a goal in his first outing with the club, and experienced top flight competition when Sporting met Inter Milan in a Champions League match.
Champions league where he scored from almost 40 yards.
Scoring 51 goals in one season he turned out to be the highest goalscorer surpassing the likes of Ferenc Puskas who score 49 goals in one season. In the same season he would then finish with a total amount of 53 goals. This made him to become the first Madrid player able to attain and exceed 50 goal margins a season. After six day later, he surpassed Telmo Zarra's goal margin and Hugo Sanchez's margin by scoring more than 40 goals in La Liga. He established a goal scoring mark of one goal scored in every 70.7 minutes. As a result of his goal scoring attitude he however won the European Golden Shoe award again and became the very first player that won the award in two different leagues.

Cristiano Ronaldo was born in Funchal, Madeira 5 February 1985. Cristiano Ronaldo is the last son of Jose Diniz Aveiro and he has two sisters and one brother. The young kid from Madeira never was a good student in his childhood. In school, Ronaldo (he received this name as a tribute for former US president, Ronald Reagan) didn’t like to study and the only time he really worked hard were during meals when he and his pals used to play football all the time. Such passion for the ball led him to Clube Futebol Andorinha de Santo Antonio - where his father used to work. Later, he went to the amateur league of Nacional da Ilha da Madeira, in 1995. In his first year at Nacional, Ronaldo won the kid’s championship, going to Lisbon at only 11 years old. In Lisbon, Cristiano Ronaldo played on Sporting Lisbon as a youth. In September of 2002, the kid from Madeira Island started his professional career on the Sporting Lisbon pro club team, when he was only 17 years. In 2003, Ronaldo signed a contract with Manchester United, where he made United’s fans quickly forget David Beckham. With a great squad, Chelsea started it’s dynasty in England, winning the Premier League in that year. But Ronaldo was known as a great revelation with the jersey number 7. This number is magical for the Manchester side - three of the main legends in the history of the club had the number 7 in the back (George Best, Eric Cantona and David Beckham).

Cristiano Ronaldo Football Club

Cristiano Ronaldo Football Club Biography
Ronaldo was born in Santo António, a neighbourhood of Funchal, Madeira, the youngest child of Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, a cook, and José Dinis Aveiro, a municipal gardener.[11] His second given name “Ronaldo” was chosen after then-U.S. president Ronald Reagan, who was his father’s favourite actor.[12] He has one older brother, Hugo, and two older sisters, Elma and Liliana Cátia
At the age of eight, Ronaldo played for amateur team Andorinha, where his father was the kit man. In 1995, Ronaldo signed with local club Nacional, and, after a title-winning campaign, he went on a three-day trial with Sporting CP, who subsequently signed him for an undisclosed sum.
Ronaldo joined Sporting’s other youth players who trained at the Academia Sporting, the club’s football academy, in Alcochete. He became the only player ever to play for Sporting’s under-16, under-17, under-18, B-team, and the first team, all within one season.[14] He scored two goals in his league debut on 7 October 2002, which Sporting CP won 3–0 against Moreirense, while featuring for Portugal in the 2002 European Under-17 Championship. When he was 15, Ronaldo was diagnosed with a racing heart, a condition that might have forced him to give up playing football. The Sporting staff were made aware of the condition and Ronaldo’s mother gave her authorisation for him to go into hospital. While there, he had an operation in which a laser was used to cauterise the area of his heart that was causing the problem. The surgery took place in the morning and Ronaldo was discharged from hospital by the end of the afternoon; he resumed training only a few days later. He was first spotted by then-Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier at the age of 16, but Liverpool declined to take him on because they decided he was too young and needed some time to develop his skills. However, he came to the attention of Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson in the summer of 2003, when Sporting defeated United 3–1 in the inauguration of the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon. Ronaldo’s performance impressed the Manchester United players, who urged Ferguson to sign him.[18]
